GTA6 languages: does it support Chinese, Japanese, and more?

Bottom line: GTA6 will almost certainly ship Simplified Chinese subtitles, but don't expect Chinese voice acting. Rockstar's approach has always been translated subtitles and menus, with English-only voice acting.

What Rockstar hasn't said

Rockstar hasn't published GTA6's language list yet. But the track record is clear:

• GTA5 ships Simplified Chinese (subtitles and menus) on every platform.
• Red Dead Redemption 2 also supports Simplified Chinese.
• Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) has been standard across Rockstar's last decade of releases.

On that track record, GTA6 will almost certainly keep Simplified Chinese subtitles. Strictly speaking, though, we're waiting on official confirmation.

Chinese voice acting: don't count on it

• GTA has always been subtitles-only for Chinese — English voice acting with translated subtitles, across every entry.
• With the sheer volume of Lucia and Jason's dialogue, a full Chinese dub would be expensive, and Rockstar has never done it. So don't hold out for Chinese voices.
• The default for most players is English voice + Chinese subtitles, and that's not changing.

Other languages

GTA5 also ships Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and more. GTA6 will likely keep the same set — specifics pending Rockstar's announcement.

What this means for you

• Don't worry about understanding it — Chinese subtitles are almost certainly in.
• Want to play at launch → see which console to pick.
• Want to save money → see which edition to buy.
