GTA6 Rumor Check: 4 Debunked, 7 Unconfirmed, 5 Confirmed
The closer we get to November 19, the more GTA6 "news" floats around. The mistake I see most in the community isn't stale info, it's mixing three things into one pot: official facts, rumors from the 2022 leak, and straight-up fabrications. Here's the split, so you can sort whatever you read into the right bucket.
Debunked: these 4 are wrong
Each of these is contradicted by official info, yet people still repeat them:
- "The PC version launches the same day." False. Launch is PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There's no PC date (a rumor points to 2027, unconfirmed). Hoping to play on PC on November 19? Not happening.
- "The physical edition has a disc." False. It's a download code in a box, no disc. Collect the box if you want, just don't expect to pull a disc out of it.
- "Pre-ordering gets you early access." False. Standard is $79.99, Ultimate $99.99, and neither lets you play a day sooner.
- "GTA Online 2 is there at launch." False. Launch is single-player only. No date for the online mode yet.
Unconfirmed: these 7 have no one claiming them
All of these trace back to the 2022 leak or anonymous sources, and Rockstar has never confirmed them. Fine to get excited about, but don't file them under "officially confirmed":
- A six-star wanted level and a reworked police AI
- A fuel system and vehicle grading
- Diet and exercise affecting weight and muscle
- Slow-motion aiming
- A roughly 80-hour main story
- A map twice the size of GTA V (or 2.5x)
- 700+ enterable interiors
A few of these sound great, especially "a map twice as big." But appealing and true aren't the same thing. Rockstar has only said it's "bigger than GTA V," never an actual number.
